PREMISE

In an alternate 2015, human colonists of Mars have discovered Aldnoah—advanced ancient technology—and use it to wage war on the technologically inferior Earth. We rejoin all characters 18 months after the devastating Martian attack at the end of S1. The United Earth Federation retaliates and launches into space, aiming to defeat the Martian Vers Empire once and for all.

LIKED!

S2 starts strong—space battles, beach fanservice, and previously dead characters return to life.

BGM/soundtrack is more energetic

S2 mainly occurs in space, allowing for more engaging space station interiors and exterior space battles

Inaho becomes a tad more sympathetic, since he emotes more due to his handicap

DISLIKED...

occasionally melodramatic or predictable—I fastforwarded once or twice

OP and ED were less interesting than S1

Slaine’s character arc was interesting, but didn't feel earned

happy ending was a pleasant but sudden shift from drama to warm-and-fuzzy

The continuation of good music, good sound design, fun mecha action, compelling side characters, and good animation make Aldnoah.Zero S2's a worthwhile watch, though the plot unravels at the end.
