PREMISE

Koyori is a shy, ditzy middle-schooler with an infectious passion for ping-pong. Koyori is a new transfer into all-girls Suzumegahara Middle School, and the latest member of their school ping pong team. Koyori joins a group of girls with colorful personalities who all share friendship, ping pong rivalries, and a dream to become national ping pong champions.

DISLIKED...

–
the frequency of panty and bust size conversations and fanservice was distracting from the wholesome sports vibe—especially considering they’re middle school girls.
–
pacing was a bit slow at times.
–
annoying sideline-commentary-about-duel moments kept interrupting the ping pong action
–
the show and characters constantly set up a Nationals ping pong tournament, but it never occurs….and there’s no Season 2!

OP: upbeat but bland, great animation. ED: cutesy and unmemorable

CLOSING REMARKS

Scorching Ping Pong girls is primarily a moe schoolgirl friendship anime, and a sports show second. It’s sweet, but not particularly special.
