Superpowered vampires—Ghouls—live undercover in Japan, preying on humans. Kaneki, a former human university student who was turned into a ghoul, decides to come out of hiding and live large by joining Aogiri Tree, the most violent ghoul gang in Tokyo. Continuing exactly where Season 1 finished, the ragtag family of ghouls at Cafe Anteiku continue to fight for survival against the anti-ghoul-police CCG, who escalate and bring in new agents as reinforcement.
While maintaining awesome fight scenes, Tokyo Ghouls' second season is more character-driven, and you end up sympathizing with almost all side-characters. Season 2's tone is less badass, and more poignant.
Tokyo Ghoul √A (S2) – 8/10
