Ghouls are humanoid monsters who eat human flesh to survive, and evade the anti-ghoul CCG police force while killing in secret, or kill at large by joining gangs. Season 4—Tokyo Ghoul re:’s second cour, and the series finale—continues directly where S3 left off: Half-ghoul inspector Kaneki Ken regains his memories, must reconcile his police life and ghoul past, and becomes embroiled in a CCG conspiracy which threatens all of Tokyo.
Tokyo Ghoul’s pacing wavers in this last season, but its moral of accepting people despite their past, eschewing revenge, and not struggling alone are all heartening. Worth watching, for closure to the plot.
Tokyo Ghoul :re – Part 2 (S4) – 6/10
