QUICK FACTS

PREMISE

Dowa Kingdom’s 13 peaceful provinces range from oil-rich desert nations to frigid arctic outposts and lush tropical islands—and ACCA is the independent government oversight body responsible for the entire kingdom’s infrastructure. Inspector Jean Otus is a rising star at ACCA. While completing his final audit of all 13 provinces before the kingdom’s 100th anniversary, Jean uncovers a revolution threatening Dowa’s century of stability.

LIKED!

+
each episode had a different theme for each nation within the kingdom, with inspiration coming from Paris, or Las Vegas, etc—varied biomes, varied peoples, varied cultures. Great detail.
+
good depth to the ensemble of characters
+
slow burn pacing and good plot twists
+
unique animation style for characters, and lovingly animated food and interior design

DISLIKED...

show feels aimless and boring at the beginning

OTHER THOUGHTS

slow pacing takes a while to settle into, but it becomes captivating
OP's jazzy swagger didn't match the slow pacing of the show. The ED's softness was more appropriate, but also boring.
content warning: lots of smoking

CLOSING REMARKS

Between the colors, character style, and slow pacing ACCA has a very specific vibe—which becomes enthralling and worth it, if you stick past the first few episodes.

ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. – 8/10
